Rather new, yes. Back home it was all violent crimes. Here, seems more about theft and burglary. Nothing worse than a liar or a thief.

Another fellow detroiter here (7 mile and gratiot). Sorry to see your bike was taken. They got me a couple months ago. I’m in the process of bringing the guy down. Since a badger posted a picture of a guy on the bike that stole my sh*t I’ve been stalking him over in my hood. He is local, a couple blocks from me. I’m waiting for the right opportunity and then I’m going to rock his world.

Yes, that's what I was saying. I've been fortunate enough to get around a bit (not like that...I'm learning this forum well!) and I've never been to a place with so much motorcycle theft. Is there some market for parts on these bikes or something? I'd imagine that most people who are at least the average rider would never have it in their heart to steal another persons bike. I don't know any non-rider who just has a bike and rides for no reason.

ebay, craigslist, facebook, etc etc etc have made selling stolen stuff incredibly easy.

there are also quite a few that steal to have a bike to thrash for a while then dump and find another one.

That's incredibly sad. Makes sense there would be a market out here for all of that considering many people ride year round or it's their main transportation.

Thx all. Especially Doug who I think recognized the bike he's been servicing for years.

Unfortunately hasn't shown up on Craigslist or in a ditch.

And shame on me but I didn't move my road bike and they came back 2 weeks later cut the locks and took it as well.
